Hasina Plans December Return to Bangladesh to Surrender Before Court: Reuters Exclusive

Melbourne, February 11: Freshly released, unredacted documents from the US Justice Department have revealed disturbing new details about the scale and brutality of Jeffrey Epstein’s abuse network, including claims that some of his victims may have been as young as nine years old.
Lawmakers from both major political parties spent hours reviewing the files after multiple redactions were lifted as part of an ongoing investigation into how the late financier was able to sexually abuse and traffic underage girls for years without being stopped. The revelations have reignited public outrage and raised renewed questions about institutional failures that allowed Epstein’s crimes to continue for so long.
Jamie Raskin, the top Democrat on the US House Judiciary Committee, said the documents contain references to victims aged 15, 14, 10 and, in one case, even nine years old. He described the findings as “preposterous and scandalous”, saying the scale of abuse detailed in the files was deeply disturbing.
The newly disclosed material has also drawn attention to what senior figures may have known about Epstein’s behaviour years before his arrest. One memo describes a conversation in the mid-2000s between then-businessman Donald Trump and a Palm Beach police officer during the early stages of the Epstein investigation. According to the document, Trump allegedly said that “everyone” in certain circles knew about Epstein’s conduct and described him as “disgusting”. He also reportedly urged investigators to look into Epstein’s close associate, Ghislaine Maxwell, calling her “evil”.
The White House said it could not confirm whether such a phone call took place. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt stated that if the call did occur, it would align with President Trump’s long-standing claim that he had banned Epstein from his Mar-a-Lago resort. However, Trump has previously told reporters that he had no knowledge of Epstein’s abuse of underage girls, creating apparent inconsistencies in public statements over the years.
The Justice Department said it is not aware of any corroborating evidence that the President contacted law enforcement about Epstein two decades ago.

The same is true of current U.S. President Donald Trump, who is referenced in the released materials. Three survivors appear in a Super Bowl–time ad calling for the full release of the Epstein files; their mouths are deliberately redacted to protect identities. Photo: Davidoff Studios/Getty Images.
Meanwhile, Ghislaine Maxwell, who is serving a 20-year prison sentence for sex trafficking, has refused to answer questions from US lawmakers about her relationship with Epstein and the wider network surrounding him. Subpoenaed by the House Oversight Committee, Maxwell repeatedly invoked her Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination during a video-linked deposition from prison in Texas. The session ended early after she declined to respond to a series of questions about potential co-conspirators and the involvement of powerful figures.
Maxwell’s lawyer, David Markus, later said she would be willing to speak publicly if granted clemency by the President. He claimed that both Donald Trump and former President Bill Clinton, who were once acquainted with Epstein, were innocent of any wrongdoing, while arguing that Maxwell alone could provide a full account of what happened inside Epstein’s network.
The latest disclosures have once again cast a harsh spotlight on how Epstein was able to operate for years within elite circles despite repeated allegations. Observers say the unredacted files underscore not only the brutality of the crimes but also the systemic failures that allowed abuse and trafficking of minors to continue unchecked for so long.
