Sydney’s Australia-Born Gen-Y Artists Unite for Cultural Hub Fundraiser

Sydney, 21 August 2026: A group of Australia-born Gen-Y artists is preparing to present an evening of Bangla music in Sydney to support a not-for-profit community initiative.

Led by popular vocalist Neeladri, the musical team will include Himardi, Shulagna, Ipsita, Joya, Rushnan, Raajon and Pradeepti. The young performers have spent several weeks rehearsing for the event, which organisers describe as a first-of-its-kind initiative in Sydney.

The programme will take place on Friday, 28 August 2026, at Bowman Hall in Blacktown. More than 350 guests are expected to attend the dinner-style musical evening, with organisers anticipating a capacity audience.

“We want to create a homely and relaxed environment for all,” Neeladri said.

Team member Pradeepti said the performers would focus exclusively on Bangla music reflecting their cultural heritage.

“We will sing only Bangla songs—songs that are in our cultural DNA,” she said.

The Centre for Puja & Culture Ltd (CPCL) is hosting the event to raise funds for a proposed Cultural and Spiritual Hub in Blacktown. The organisation has pursued the vision of establishing such a community centre since 1996.

According to CPCL, land for the project has already been secured in the heart of Blacktown, while planning for its construction is currently under way. The organisation describes the project as the first initiative of its kind undertaken by the Bangladeshi community in Australia.

The proposed hub is expected to provide a permanent space for cultural, spiritual and community activities, helping future generations remain connected to their language, music and heritage.

Organisers have promised guests a memorable evening featuring music, food and a welcoming community atmosphere. CPCL brings considerable experience to the programme, having previously organised concerts featuring renowned artists including Manna Dey, Mitali Mukherjee and Bhupinder Singh, Rathindranath Roy, Fahmida Khatun and Subir Nandy.
