Melbourne, June 14: Bangladeshi-born American DJ, music producer and artist Sanjoy Deb has captured global attention after performing at the spectacular opening ceremony of the FIFA World Cup 2026 in Canada, bringing a touch of Bangladesh to one of the world’s biggest sporting events.

Held at Toronto’s BMO Stadium, the opening ceremony featured a vibrant performance of FIFA’s newly released anthem, “SIR SIR,” performed by Sanjoy Deb alongside Bollywood star Nora Fatehi and French hip-hop artist Vegedream. While the performance impressed football fans worldwide, it was Sanjoy’s tribute to Bangladesh that particularly resonated with millions of Bangladeshis.

Dressed in a maroon suit specially designed for the occasion, Sanjoy incorporated iconic Bangladeshi symbols into his outfit. Born in Sreemangal, Moulvibazar, Bangladesh, Sanjoy moved to the United States with his parents, Santosh Deb and Mita Deb, nearly two decades ago.
