EC of India issues notification for constitution of new assemblies following completion of electoral process

Melbourne, 6 May: Election Commission (EC) of India has issued notifications for the constitution of new assemblies in West Bengal, Assam, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry following the completion of the electoral process.

The notification has been forwarded to the Governor, signifying the completion of all procedural requirements following the declaration of results. This step paves the way for the formation of a new government in the state.

A senior Election Commission official described the issuance of the notification as a crucial constitutional milestone. According to the official, it is a mandatory step taken after the results of the assembly elections are announced.

“With this notification, the Commission has completed its role in the process of constituting the new assembly. It now enables the subsequent steps for government formation as per established procedures,” the official stated.

The official further emphasised that the entire election process—from polling to counting—was conducted in a free, fair and transparent manner, in accordance with the legal and constitutional framework.

The notification also clears the way for the swearing-in of newly elected representatives and the formal establishment of the next government in West Bengal, Assam, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.
