IEEE Victorian & Tasmanian sections set for grand 2025 annual general meeting in Melbourne

Melbourne, 22 November 2025: The IEEE Victorian Section and Tasmanian Subsection are gearing up to host their highly anticipated 2025 Annual General Meeting (AGM), to be held at the Angliss Restaurant, Melbourne, VIC, on 25 November 2025, from 6:30 pm to 9:00 pm AEDT. The event promises an evening of reflection, recognition and celebration as members review the year’s achievements and honour outstanding contributors.

Founded in 1983, the IEEE Victorian Section serves as Victoria’s local geographic unit of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) — the world’s largest technical professional organisation dedicated to advancing technology for the benefit of humanity. IEEE today connects nearly 500,000 members globally across 190 countries, forming a vast global network of scientists, engineers and innovators.

Operating from Melbourne, the Victorian Section proudly represents nearly 2,000 members across a wide range of technical fields — including photonics, computational intelligence, biomedical engineering, robotics, medicine and engineering management. Its vibrant community is composed of students, young professionals, women in engineering, academics, industry leaders, government representatives and technical consultants.

This year’s AGM will spotlight significant milestones and accomplishments achieved throughout 2025. A key highlight of the evening will be the formal recognition of volunteers whose dedication has strengthened the organisation’s initiatives and community engagement.

Adding to the significance of the night, Mr Paul Hamer, Member for Box Hill in the Victorian Legislative Assembly and Parliamentary Secretary for Jobs (since December 2024), and Acting Speaker (since February 2023), will attend as a special guest.

Organisers say the gathering will bring together an elite audience of some of Victoria’s brightest scientific and technological minds, making it a landmark moment in the state’s innovation landscape. With a focus on retrospection and forward-looking vision, the AGM aims to inspire continued collaboration and technological advancement for the benefit of society.
