In his October 2026 message, Albanese acknowledged that honouring Goddess Durga preserves a deeply meaningful tradition, nurtured and passed down through generations in the community’s ancestral homelands and now continued in Australia.

He described Durga Puja as a beautiful and powerful reminder of the Hindu community’s place in Australia’s story. The festival, he said, also reflects the nation’s deepening understanding of its own identity—something worthy of celebration.

The Prime Minister concluded by wishing everyone a wonderful and uplifting Durga Puja filled with energy, colour and joy.
