Iran Women’s Football Team Faces Uncertain Future After Asian Cup Anthem Protest
Melbourne, 7 March: The Iranian women’s national football team competing in the AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2026 in Australia has found itself at the centre…
The blast occurred near Gate No 1 of the Red Fort Metro Station, when a slow-moving vehicle stopped at a red light suddenly exploded, killing at least nine people and injuring many others.
Authorities have confirmed the identification of eight victims; two remain unrecognised. The vehicle involving a Hyundai i20 registered in Haryana has been traced, and its owner has been taken into custody as police continue to examine the purchase and registration chain, including possible use of fake documents.
In response to the incident, security agencies across India have been placed on high alert. This includes protection for airports, railway and metro stations, historical monuments and other sensitive installations.
The United States Embassy in India issued an advisory urging US citizens to avoid the Red Fort area and other crowded tourist locations, to remain vigilant and follow instructions from local authorities.
India’s Home Minister, Amit Shah, stated that all possibilities – including terrorism are being thoroughly investigated, and forensic teams are analysing evidence from the blast site.
