DU Honours 62 Researchers for Outstanding Contributions to Research

Dhaka University has honoured 62 teachers and researchers in recognition of their outstanding contributions to research and their role in enhancing the university’s visibility in the international academic community.

The recipients, each of whom has achieved 2,000 or more citations on Google Scholar, were presented with the honours at a ceremony held at the Nawab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban on Thursday, 27 August 2026.

Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr ABM Obaidul Islam attended the ceremony as the chief guest.

The event was chaired by Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Academic) Professor Dr Abdus Salam. Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Administration) Professor Dr Mohammad Almojadded Alfasani and Treasurer Professor Dr M Jahangir Alam Chowdhury addressed the ceremony as special guests.

Professor Dr Md Anwarul Islam of the Department of Information Science and Library Management delivered the opening remarks. He also presented a PowerPoint presentation highlighting the significance of citations in assessing the reach, influence and impact of academic research.

The ceremony was attended by the deans of all faculties, chairpersons of academic departments, directors of institutes and centres, the university proctor, and the teachers and researchers receiving the honours.

Notably, Professor Dr Md Anwarul Islam was the only academic among the 17 departments under Dhaka University’s Faculty of Arts to receive the honour.
