One Battle After Another’ dominates as Michael B. Jordan and Jessie Buckley claim top acting honours

Melbourne, March 16: The 98th Academy Awards delivered a night of major wins, historic moments and strong performances, with One Battle After Another” emerging as the biggest winner of the ceremony. The film took home six Oscars, including Best Picture, Best Director for Paul Thomas Anderson, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Supporting Actor for Sean Penn, Best Film Editing, and the new Best Casting award.

Another major contender of the night was Sinners”, which won four Oscars. The film earned Best Actor for Michael B. Jordan, Best Original Screenplay for Ryan Coogler, Best Original Score for Ludwig Göransson, and Best Cinematography for Autumn Durald Arkapaw. Arkapaw’s win was especially significant, as she became the first woman ever to win the Oscar for Best Cinematography.

In the lead actress category, Jessie Buckley won Best Actress for her performance in Hamnet”, while Amy Madigan received Best Supporting Actress for Weapons.” These acting wins were among the most talked-about moments of the evening and helped shape a ceremony filled with both expected victories and notable surprises.

Several other films also made their mark across major categories. KPop Demon Hunters” won Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song for Golden.” Norway’s Sentimental Value” claimed Best International Feature, while Mr. Nobody Against Putin” won Best Documentary Feature. Meanwhile, Frankenstein” collected three technical Oscars for Production Design, Costume Design, and Makeup and Hairstyling, and Avatar: Fire and Ash” won Best Visual Effects. F1” took home the Oscar for Best Sound.

This year’s Oscars reflected a broad mix of prestige drama, technical excellence, international storytelling and fresh milestones. Above all, the night belonged to One Battle After Another” for its sweep in the top categories, while Sinners” secured a strong place in Oscar history through both its wins and Arkapaw’s groundbreaking achievement.
